Summary
Peter Kemp, a young Englishman who fought on the Nationalist side, provides one of the few first-hand accounts of the Spanish Civil War from the losing faction. He served in the Requeté (Carlist) militia and later with the Spanish Foreign Legion, participating in major battles including the Ebro offensive. Originally published in 1957, the memoir offers a counterpoint to the overwhelmingly Republican-aligned personal narratives of the war.
